How much does it cost to place an ad?

There is no cost to place a text ad on EquusTrack. You may create as many text ads as you like free of any charges.

If you decide you want to add up to four photos to your ad, the fee to do so is US$ 3.95. By doing so, you will get increased exposure for your ad in multiple ways. As an example, when someone initiates a search and specifies at the most breed and gender as search criteria, all photo ads appear first. Additionally, photo ads tend to pop out and catch one's attention. It's not uncommon for prospective buyers to simply ignore ads which don't have photos.

Additionally, all photos ads are syndicated to EquineAlbum.com, a partner site of ours. EquineAlbum features only photo listings of horses, and provides a slightly different browsing experience for the horse shopper.

What are the advantages of listing my horse with EquusTrack?

EquusTrack seeks to provide a clean and comprehensive experience for both the horse seller and the horse buyer.

By providing a sophisticated horse matching algorithm coupled with a clean format for presenting potential horse prospects, horse buyers can quickly zero in on what they're really looking for. As a seller, you benefit from this by being confident that potential buyers are seeing your ads.

Additionally, if you choose to create a photo ad, your ad will also be featured on our partner site, EquineAlbum.

Is there a limit to how many horses I may list?

There is no limit to how many horses you may list.

How long will my ad run?

Ads will run for eight months from their initial time of placement. If your horse sells before then, you may pause or delete the ad.

How long from the time I submit my ad until it appears?

Assuming you have completed the horse listing process, a basic version of your ad is immediately online and available for all to see. However, certain components of ads are reviewed before being available for all to see. Such components include the description, remarks, photos, and in general, any freely editable text. We do this for everyone's benefit. Otherwise, spam or material unrelated to what the ad is supposed to be about appear within our listings. Additionally, we may make editorial changes to an ad to correct its grammar and spelling, or decrease its use of abbreviations or Internet slang.

What exactly is EquusTrack's Fuzzy Search?

EquusTrack employs a fuzzy search method to return results to potential horse buyers. Rather than returning results that are based on hard parameters (even if in a range), EquusTrack treats a horse shopper's set of parameters more like a fellow horse shopper would.

As an example, let's say Mary is looking for Quarter Horses that are about 15.2 hands in height and near where she lives. She selects 'Quarter Horse' as the breed, 15.2 as the height, and the zip code of her home address. While other horse listing sites allow a similar query, EquusTrack shines in which horses it shows and how it sorts the results.

If you could imagine Mary had a friend sorting through a list of available horses, you might imagine how Mary's friend would sort and bring the available prospects to Mary's attention. Instead of enforcing an inconvenient sort on one parameter, such as height, EquusTrack, just like Mary's friend, will be just slightly lenient about what Mary is asking for, especially if a certain prospect really matches her other criteria.

Maybe there are no Quarter Horses that are 15.2 hands tall nearby, but there is one that is 15.1 hands which is right around the corner. But suppose there is also an exact match to all of Mary's criteria, except location. Perhaps that horse is 120 miles away. Which one comes up at the top of the list? Just as Mary's friend employs common sense in telling Mary about the best prospects, EquusTrack does a remarkable job of placing the best prospects at the top of the list.

How do I use EquusTrack's Fuzzy Search?

What is EquineAlbum?

EquineAlbum is a companion site to EquusTrack. All horse ads featuring photos are synidicated to EquineAlbum. As a result, EquineAlbum features only photo listings of horses, and provides the horse shopper a quick and streamlined way of browsing photo ads in a slightly different format than offered here at EquusTrack. To increase the exposure of your ad, and get it listed at EquineAlbum as well, you must add photos to your ad.

How do I get my horse listed on EquineAlbum as well?

By adding photos to your ad, you can realize increased exposure for your ad because it will be featured on EquineAlbum as well. All ads with photos are automatically displayed on EquineAlbum.

My horse photos are not on my computer. What do I do?

If the photos of your horse are in photographic print form, rather than digital form, you have a few options.

  • To begin, you may list your horse right now, opting to not include any photos initially. You can always edit your ad anytime in the future to add photos.
  • If you have a scanner, then you can scan the photos, aiming for an image size of about 500 to 1000 pixels in width for upload. To achieve this size in pixels, scan a 4 x 6 print at 150 dpi; scan a 5 x 7 print or an 8 x 10 print at 100 dpi. When scanning, save the files in the JPEG format, which is a file ending with a .jpg extension.
  • If you don't have a scanner, most office supply stores, such as Office Depot or Staples will scan photos for you at a nominal charge, typically about one dollar per scan. Similarly, copy centers such as Copy Club or Kinko's offer scanning services. They will typically transfer the resulting digital images to a floppy disc or cd rom, which you can then access from your computer to upload to EquusTrack.

Will digital pictures from my camera work?

Digital pictures from your digital camera are fine. However, it is important that they be in JPEG format, which is a file ending with a .jpg extension, or less frequently, ending in a .jpeg extension.
